Job summary

K-Dans Grocery + Deli is seeking a friendly Deli Team Member to deliver prompt customer service while assisting with daily deli operations, primarily at the steam table/service line.

You will help with food preparation, restocking, cleaning, and other deli duties to keep the area inviting and operations running smoothly, while following safety, portioning, and presentation standards.

This role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced supermarket environment.

Qualifications

• Previous deli, restaurant, food service, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to provide courteous and professional customer service.
• Ability to follow instructions, recipes, portioning standards, and food safety procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and management.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, prompt service.
• Serve customers from the steam table according to established portion sizes and service standards.
• Maintain an attractive, clean, and fully stocked steam table and service area throughout the shift.
• Monitor food levels and communicate with kitchen/prep staff when additional items are needed.
• Assist with replenishing food on the steam table while following proper food handling and temperature-control procedures.
• Prepare and portion food items as assigned, including basic food prep, packaging, labeling, and assembling grab-and-go items.
• Restock food, serving supplies, condiments, utensils, containers, and other deli supplies as needed.
• Follow established recipes, portioning guidelines, and food presentation standards.
• Maintain cleanliness of counters, steam tables, work surfaces, equipment, and surrounding areas.
• Complete routine cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout the shift and at closing.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, personal hygiene, and workplace safety requirements.
• Properly rotate and store food and supplies using established procedures.
• Assist coworkers during busy periods and perform duties in other areas of the deli as needed.
• Notify management of low inventory, equipment problems, food quality concerns, customer issues, or other operational concerns.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and manager instructions.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the department.
