Job summary

Elephants Delicatessen in Beaverton, OR is seeking a full-time team member for our deli/bakery. The role pays $21.30–$23.30/hour plus tips and requires weekend availability and some holidays. Reliable transportation to our Cedar Hills location is essential.

You will slice, package, weigh, price, and merchandise products; communicate details to customers; actively upsell; and help maintain food safety and cleanliness in a fast-paced environment. Oregon Food Handler's card and OLCC Permit required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience - food service or hospitality preferred.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Reliable and collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

• Slice, package, weigh, price, and merchandise deli and bakery products.
• Communicate product information to customers and share origin stories.
• Sell and upsell foods by offering samples and recommendations.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and support safety standards.

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Schedule: This is a full time position that requires weekend availability and some holidays.

Requirements: Current Oregon Food Handler's card ,Current OLCC Permit

Location & Transportation: Elephants Cedar Hills is located at 2905 SW Cedar Blvd, Beaverton.

Reliable transportation is required. Due to our location, dependable transportation to and from our store is essential.

What You’ll Do

• Slice, package, weigh, price, and merchandise the department’s deli and bakery products


• Communicate detailed product information to customers, share origin stories


• Actively sell and upsell foods and specials by offering samples and recommendations


• Become acutely tuned in to the sales goal and help meet and exceed that goal through speedy and friendly service


• Oversee retail presentation and seasonal displays


• Direct customers to stations and areas of the store


• Maintain a clean and orderly work area


• Cross-train in various FOH roles


• Reinforce service, sanitation, and food safety standards


• Monitor workflow and pace during peak hours


• Address guest concerns with professionalism and urgency

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience - food service or hospitality experience highly preferred


• At least 1-2 years’ experience in cheese and charcuterie sales


• A genuine passion for hospitality and team development


• Strong communication and organization skills


• Ability to stay composed and solution-oriented under pressure


• High standards for cleanliness, safety, and operational excellence


• Reliability, accountability, and a collaborative mindset
