Job summary

Elephants Delicatessen in Beaverton, OR is seeking a friendly, detail‑oriented team member for our deli and bakery department. This full‑time role emphasizes hospitality, accurate product knowledge, and responsive customer service in a fast‑paced setting.

You will slice, package, weigh, and merchandise items; upsell specials; maintain displays; and uphold sanitation and safety standards. Reliable transportation and a current Oregon Food Handler card are required; OLCC permit preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Oregon Food Handler's card is required.
• Current OLCC permit is required.
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience in food service or hospitality.
• At least 1–2 years of cheese and charcuterie sales experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to stay composed and solution-oriented under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Slice, package, weigh, price, and merchandise the department’s deli and bakery products.
• Communicate detailed product information to customers, share origin stories.
• Actively sell and upsell foods and specials by offering samples and recommendations.
• Become acutely tuned in to the sales goal and help meet and exceed that goal through speedy and friendly service.
• Oversee retail presentation and seasonal displays.
• Direct customers to stations and areas of the store.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Cross-train in various FOH roles.
• Reinforce service, sanitation, and food safety standards.
• Monitor workflow and pace during peak hours.
• Address guest concerns with professionalism and urgency.

Salary: $21.30 - $23.30/hour ($16.80/hour + tips, which average an additional $5-$7/hour)
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Schedule: This is a full time position that requires weekend availability and some holidays.

Location & Transportation: Elephants Cedar Hills is located at 2905 SW Cedar Blvd, Beaverton.
