Job summary

Jet Food Store is seeking a Part-time Deli/Customer Service Associate to greet customers, handle transactions, stock shelves, and maintain a clean store environment. The role includes deli duties, basic food prep, and safety compliance with store policies.

The position requires reliable attendance, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and comfortable working around food, cleaning chemicals, and gasoline areas. Training will cover cash handling, vendor checks, and loss prevention.

Qualifications

• Read, understand, and write English at an eighth‑grade level.
• Perform arithmetic calculations to make change, complete shift reports, and account for products during vendor check‑in.
• Have sufficient visual acuity to read labels and avoid general hazards near hot equipment.
• Read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers and other equipment.
• Can lift up to 50 pounds and carry cases of milk, beverages and other items.
• Can stock shelves and coolers and rotate out old stock.
• Can react to a fire by using a fire extinguisher and following safety procedures.
• Can work around gasoline fumes and cleaning products.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile, provide friendly service, and assist with prompt checkout.
• Operate cash register, process sales, manage cash and cards as directed by the manager.
• Follow housekeeping duties: clean and sanitize restrooms, shelves, equipment, and store areas.
• Stock items on shelves and price deli products; rotate stock and ensure pricing accuracy.
• Maintain store security with proper cash handling and loss‑prevention practices.
• Follow the work schedule and report discrepancies to the store manager.
• Assist the deli team with food preparation, slicing, serving, and display of deli products.
