Job summary

ShopRite of Kearny Square in Kearny, NJ is hiring a ShopRite Appy/Deli Clerk. You will support the Appy/Deli Manager, keep the department clean and appealing, and deliver a great customer experience while handling day-to-day tasks safely and efficiently.

The role requires basic math, English literacy, physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and ability to operate slicers and related equipment. Excellent teamwork and customer service are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, and interpret English.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to operate department equipment (slicer, scale, can-opener, wrapping machine, rotisserie, fryolator, cheese grater/cutter, stove/oven).
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and lift 25 lbs regularly; up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powders.
• Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a shift.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with time/attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Use a slicing machine and related equipment.
• Replenish Appy/Deli product.
• Prepare Appy/Deli product for sale.
• Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, and price marking, arranging, and restocking products.
• Handle damaged and spoiled products according to policy.
• Inform manager of low inventory or spoilage problems.
• Keep displays stocked and properly faced.
• Check refrigeration equipment and report issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Unload trucks and transport merchandise weighing 25–50 lbs.
• Perform duties per QA, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Dress and groom according to policy.
