Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Delicatessen Clerk to join the Delicatessen department. This role emphasizes friendly customer service, accurate order taking, and safe food handling within a fast-paced store environment.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, guiding them to products, managing the delicatessen counter, processing payments, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• Must be able to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, addressing them by name when possible.
• Assists customers by guiding them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and taking orders at the delicatessen counter.
• Runs the department registers and receives payment, makes change where applicable.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company hygiene and dress guidelines.
• Washes dishes as necessary and assists in other areas of the store as needed.

Education

Less than high school or equivalent experience and six months or less of similar or related work experience
