Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc in Wisconsin is seeking a Delicatessen Clerk to handle food safely, maintain a clean work area, and provide courteous, efficient customer service. You will operate department registers, process payments, and support team members in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, assisting with product locations, taking orders at the delicatessen counter, and helping ensure fresh, well-presented products while upholding hygiene and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing
• Must be able to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products they’re looking for, securing products that are out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions or requests.
• Takes customer orders at the delicatessen counter.
• Runs the department registers and receives payment, makes change, etc., where applicable.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

Education

Less than high school or equivalent experience
