Position Objective
To produce, execute, and deliver outstanding prepared foods in freshness, taste, quality, and presentation in a timely and efficient manner. Assist in all aspects of the deli to ensure a team that delivers high-quality products and service to Cosentino's customers.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Deli Manager.
Status
This is a non-exempt position.
Knowledge
- A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
- Completion of ongoing training as per Cosentino's Learning Plan.
- At least one year of cooking experience in a deli, bakery, catering, or banquet operation is required.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in deli or food service production.
- Understanding of federal, state, and local food sanitation guidelines is required.
Skills
Basic skills necessary for the position include effective communication, teamwork, and food safety practices.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and implement menu items with management.
- Practice proper portion control and food safety standards.
- Ensure quality control of all deli products.
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff.
- Maintain a positive team environment.
- Train and manage part-time cooks.
- Communicate resource needs clearly to team members.
- Manage inventory, monitor product dates, and ensure proper rotation.
- Assist customers and promote sales.
- Handle customer complaints professionally.

- Demonstrate basic math and reading skills.
Non-Essential Job Functions
- Prepare, package, and label products efficiently.
