Join our team as a Deli Cook - Full Time with Benefits at Cosentino's Food Stores.

Position Overview

Objective: To produce, execute, and deliver high-quality prepared foods in a timely manner, ensuring freshness, taste, and presentation. Assist in all deli operations to maintain the high standards of Cosentino's.

Reporting & Status

Reports to: Deli Manager

Status: Non-exempt

Knowledge & Certifications
  • Food handling permit required within 14 days of employment.
  • Completion of ongoing training per Cosentino's Learning Plan.
  • At least 1 year of cooking experience in deli, bakery, catering, or banquet setting.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in deli or food service production.
  • Understanding of food sanitation guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Skills & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement menu items with management.
  • Practice portion control and ensure food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Supervise kitchen team members effectively and respectfully.
  • Foster a positive team environment and motivate staff.
  • Train and manage part-time cooks.
  • Communicate clearly with team and customers.
  • Manage inventory, monitor product dates, and ensure proper rotation.
  • Assist customers and promote sales through suggestions and samples.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally.
  • Operate and maintain equipment safely.
  • Follow all deli programs, recipes, and standards.
  • Demonstrate basic math and reading skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Reach, twist, lift up to 20 lbs, push/pull up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, bend, squat, and work in cold environments.
Additional Notes

Climbing ladders up to 5ft may be required.
