Job summary

Walt Churchill’s Market in Maumee, OH is seeking a Full-Time Deli Cook to join our team. You will assist customers at the deli counter, prepare items, manage food safety and sanitation, and may lead when needed. Typical shifts are 8 AM to 4 PM, four weekdays and one weekend day, with starting pay of $16+ based on experience.

Evening and weekend availability is required. You will assist customers at the deli counter, prepare salads, soups and grab-and-go items, maintain stock and rotate products,

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Minimum of 2 years of cooking or kitchen experience, required.
• Prior deli or food service experience, preferred.
• ServSafe Food Safety Certification or willingness to obtain one.
• Prolonged standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, and reaching.
• Occasional pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer service at the deli counter and on the sales floor.
• Package, wrap, price, and merchandise Deli Department products.
• Maintain strong product knowledge of deli items and rotate stock (FIFO).
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, and storage standards per policy and health regs.
• Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, sanitation and dishwashing.
• Prepare cold salads, dips, grab-and-go items, and soups.
• Operate deli equipment safely (slicers, steamers, fryers, ovens, etc.).
• Put away stock in coolers and dry storage while rotating products.
• Obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification.
• Train and support new Deli Clerks; serve as Shift Lead when needed.

Job Summary:

The Line Cook provides exceptional customer service while supporting daily deli operations. This role includes assisting customers at the deli counter, on the sales floor, and over the phone, as well as preparing products, maintaining food safety standards, and completing cleaning duties. This position requires evening and weekend availability and may serve in a leadership capacity when needed. Typical schedule for this position will consist of four weekdays and one weekend day from 8 AM to 4 PM. Starting pay for this position is $16+ based on experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide outstanding customer service by greeting customers promptly, answering questions, and assisting with purchases
• Package, wrap, price, and merchandise Deli Department products
• Maintain strong product knowledge of deli items including cold salads, dips, lunchmeats, cheeses, and prepared foods
• Properly date all items, check expiration dates, ensure freshness, and rotate stock (FIFO)
• Maintain sanitation, food safety, and food storage standards in accordance with company policies and health department regulations
• Perform cleaning duties including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, surface sanitation, and washing dishes
• Prepare cold salads, dips, grab-and-go items and soups
• Safely and effectively operate deli equipment such as slicers, steamers, fryers, rotisserie ovens, combi-ovens, smokers, and knives
• Put away stock in coolers, freezers, and dry storage while rotating product and maintaining organized storage areas
• Obtain and/or maintain ServSafe Food Safety Certification
• Train and support new Deli Clerks as assigned
• Serve as Shift Lead in the absence of a manager, including case setup, setting production lists, and ensuring team members remain on task
