Job Description

The Deli Clerk is responsible for duties as directed by the Deli Manager and/or Assistant Deli Manager to ensure the successful operation of the Deli Department. It is essential to present yourself professionally and courteously at all times, maintaining high standards of Customer Service. Additional duties may be assigned based on business needs and supervisor discretion. Full compliance with policies is required to contribute positively to Gerrity's Supermarkets.

Responsibilities
  • Greet customers, serve them, and thank them upon their satisfaction
  • Slice and weigh deli meats and cheeses according to customer preferences
  • Maintain and stock department areas
  • Clean equipment periodically and at close of business
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation throughout the department
  • Set up and tear down departmental areas as scheduled
  • Communicate store promotions to customers
  • Be present at your workstation at the start of your shift
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to the Customer Service Pledge
  • Maintain a neat, professional appearance and adhere to dress code
  • Attend work reliably to support department functions
  • Follow all policies in the Employee Handbook
Qualifications
  • No minimum educational requirement
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Ability to calculate weights and figures accurately
  • Good hearing, speaking, and understanding skills
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and interpreting English
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch frequently
  • Visual acuity including close, distant, and color vision with focus adjustment
