Strack & Van Til in Highland, IN is seeking a Deli Associate to slice deli meats and cheeses, fry and bake chicken and other products, and prepare sandwiches, salads, and entrees. You will provide product recommendations and assist customers with special orders while delivering outstanding service.

You will stock cases, maintain high quality deli items, ensure food safety and sanitation, and clean preparation areas and equipment. Some locations may require a food handler certification.

Summary: As a Deli associate, some of your duties will include slicing deli meats and cheeses to order, frying and baking chicken and other products, preparing sandwiches, salads, entrees and more. You will provide product suggestions and assist customers with special orders while you provide our customers with outstanding customer service. You will stock cases and ensure that our customers have a variety of high-quality deli items to choose from. You will ensure complete compliance with food safety and sanitation requirements throughout your daily work. You will clean and sanitize dishes, food preparation areas, and equipment. In some areas, you may be required to obtain a food handler's certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist customers
• Stock and rotate product
• Operate meat slicer
• Operate merchandise scale
• Operate stove/oven/fryer

Other activities:

• Take orders
• Build displays
• Package items for sale
• Clean/sanitize department, backroom and cooler/freezer
• Change fryer oil
