Hy-Vee is seeking a Delicatessen Clerk to handle food safely and keep work areas clean. You will run department registers, receive payments, and provide courteous service to customers and teammates.

The role emphasizes friendly customer interactions, accuracy in order handling, and collaboration with store staff to maintain quality and efficiency. This position supports a fast-paced deli environment.

Qualifications

• Must understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing.
• Must solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether in the department or elsewhere in the store
• Learns customers' names and addresses them by name when possible
• Helps customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy items
• Takes customer orders at the delicatessen counter and processes payments when applicable
• Works with coworkers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
• Reviews orders for the day and ensures proper sanitation and cleanliness of the work area
• Maintains adequate food supply and develops production lists; anticipates department needs
• Prepares, finishes, and replenishes products; checks in product and reviews invoices
• Operates department registers and handles payments; removes trash promptly
• Follows company policies and arrives to work on schedule
• Performs other duties and special projects as required
• Delivers orders as needed
• Prices products for customers as necessary
• Assists in other areas of the store as needed
