Job summary

Safeway in Rockville, MD is seeking a Deli Clerk to help customers select deli meats, cheeses, hot foods, and prepared items. You’ll slice, assemble, portion, and prepare grab‑and‑go options while keeping the counter welcoming and efficient.

You’ll also stock displays, ensure freshness, operate slicers safely, handle transactions, and support a fast‑paced environment through attention to detail and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Operate slicers and food preparation equipment following training and safety guidelines
• Basic math skills for weighing, portioning, and transactions
• Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Prior food service or customer service experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh deli items and create a welcoming experience for customers
• Keep the deli department stocked, clean, and ready throughout the day
• Monitor product freshness and temperature and ensure proper display
• Restock, take orders, and work with equipment in a fast-paced environment
