Mother's Market & Kitchen is hiring a Deli Clerk to serve customers, prepare and display deli items, and keep the case inviting. The role emphasizes friendly service, product knowledge, accurate weighing and pricing, and adherence to safety standards.

We offer an hourly rate of $16.90 to $20.00 and benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and in-store discounts. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Previous customer service experience is preferred (deli/food service is a plus).
• Ability to read recipes and product labels in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service.
• Prepare, wrap, weigh, price, and label deli products.
• Set up and maintain the deli case with fresh items and displays.
• Ensure proper rotation of products and removal of expired items.
• Restock deli items and supplies such as utensils and containers.
• Prepare special orders to meet customer specifications.
• Offer samples to increase product awareness and sales.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary workspace.
• Assist vendors and contribute to department improvements.
• Support the team with other duties as needed.

What You’ll Do

As a Deli Clerk, you'll prepare and display food, assist customers with their selections, and keep the deli case looking its best. Key duties include:

• Providing friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable customer service
• Preparing, wrapping, weighing, pricing, and labeling deli products
• Setting up and maintaining the deli case with fresh ingredients and attractive displays
• Ensuring proper rotation of products and removing expired items
• Restocking deli items and supplies such as cutlery, cups, and containers
• Preparing special orders to meet customer specifications
• Offering samples to increase product awareness and drive sales
• Reading and following recipes in English with accuracy
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace
• Assisting vendors and contributing to department improvements
• Supporting the team with other duties as needed

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required

Experience:

• Previous customer service experience preferred (deli/food service a plus)

Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to perform basic math for weighing, pricing, and transactions
• Comfortable reading recipes and product labels in English
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team environment
• A proactive, positive attitude and willingness to learn

Physical Requirements

• Constant standing and walking throughout the shift
• Frequently lift items up to 25 lbs.; occasionally push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Carry trays or bowls of food up to 50 feet
• Use carts, dollies, and kitchen tools safely and efficiently

Availability

• Must be available to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
