Job summary

Meijer in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a Deli/Bakery Team Leader to oversee daily deli and bakery operations, ensuring product quality, customer service, and strong team performance while supporting other fresh food areas as needed.

You will staff, hire, mentor, and develop the team, manage P&L and shrink, promote careers, and model friendly service, safety, and consistent attendance, all while delivering Meijer’s standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience in food service, deli, bakery, or grocery operations.
• 1 year of management experience in food service, deli, bakery, or grocery operations.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, hourly team members and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes discharge recommendations.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensure the team is thoroughly trained and completed all required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
• Promotes a safe work environment.
• Reliable and consistent attendance required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

A Meijer Deli/Bakery Team Leader oversees daily operations in the deli and bakery departments, ensuring product quality, customer service, and team performance, while also supporting other fresh food areas as needed.

What You'll be Doing
