Job summary

Meijer is seeking a Store Manager to lead day-to-day operations across departments, mentor staff, and drive customer service excellence while ensuring sales goals and company standards.

You will direct staffing, training, and development, promote internal career paths, and uphold safe, high-performing store conditions. The role emphasizes P&L ownership, inventory control, and consistent, respectful service during peak hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning by providing career paths and identifying development needs for the team.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor team members to ensure customer service and sales goals are exceeded and area meets Meijer standards.
• Ensure team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and has completed required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service is delivered.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Reliable and consistent attendance required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Plans, directs and supervises team members in the day to day operations within various departments of the store. Serves as the mentor and coach for all team members. Implements strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales while ensuring customer needs are met and service is quick and efficient. Maintains store appearance with a focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.
