Job summary

Kroger deli department in Texas seeks a team member to deliver outstanding customer service and assist the department manager in meeting sales goals. You will slice deli meats and cheeses, prepare deli items, stock and label products, and maintain food safety standards.

You will answer product questions, make recommendations, and ensure freshness and correct portion sizes. Strong communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Retail experience is preferred.
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in deli/bakery/bistro departments and respond to product questions.
• Slice deli meats and cheeses to customer requests using proper equipment.
• Prepare deli/bakery items per customer requests using appropriate equipment.
• Provide samples and inform customers of specials to drive sales.
• Maintain product quality, freshness and proper temperatures; monitor sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and report discrepancies.
