Piggly Wiggly Wetumpka is seeking a Part-Time Deli Associate who delivers friendly, prompt service while preparing and serving deli items. You will maintain a clean work area and follow safety and food-handling guidelines in a fast-paced grocery setting.

The ideal candidate is at least 18, has a high school diploma or equivalent, and can communicate effectively in English while providing excellent customer service. Benefits are available for eligible staff.

Job Summary

Deli associates are responsible for preparing and serving food items, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and providing excellent customer service to all patrons.

Duties

• Provide continuous attention to customer needs; greet, assist and thank customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner.
• Offer product suggestions when appropriate.
• Stock and rotate department products to ensure freshness and date control; restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost.
• Operate department equipment and tools in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify store management.
• Notify management of team member theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark-downs, property defacement or any action that is illegal and/or against company policy.
• Prepare and serve food items such as hot meals, sandwiches, salads, soups, etc.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning equipment and utensils.
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Understand the company’s checkout/purchasing procedures to include how customers and staff pay for items in the store.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines to include maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
• Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned to include stocking, cleaning, etc.
