Job summary

Military Deli & Bakery Services is seeking an Assistant Manager/Shift Lead to support the Deli/Bakery operations at Fort Leavenworth, KS. You will supervise 5–10 staff, ensure top customer service, and uphold strict food safety standards while driving department profits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years grocery or 2+ years food service experience.
• Previous shift lead/management experience mandatory.
• Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
• Open availability; some weekends and closing shifts.
• Must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have a valid Food Safety Management Certification or obtain one within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Deli/Bakery Manager in leading the department by directing and managing 5–10 employees.
• Maintain high levels of customer service while meeting commissary requirements and maximizing profits.
• Oversee and enforce Food Safety and Sanitation policies and procedures.
• Help manage inventories by tracking weekly reports and ordering raw materials and supplies.
• Assist in scheduling and training employees and delegating work assignments.
• Prepare, maintain, and track records concerning inventories and monthly profit according to policy.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment to meet health and safety requirements.
• Develop and maintain professional communication with commissary management to meet financial objectives.
• Monitor customer satisfaction to identify areas for improvement and address issues.
• Maintain accurate department records for activity documentation.
• Monitor employee morale and promote a positive teamwork environment.
• Perform duties of staff as required in this hands-on role.
