Pemberton Farms Marketplace in Cambridge, MA is hiring a Deli Associate to deliver friendly service in a busy deli and catering environment. You will greet customers, help with orders, and suggest options while maintaining product knowledge across deli cases, bakery, and takeout orders.

Open availability preferred; 18+ years old. Starting pay is $20/hr plus tips, with room to grow based on experience and performance.

Pemberton Farms Marketplace, a fourth-generation family-owned unique specialty grocery store and garden center in North Cambridge, operating since 1930. Our sprawling retail business includes a busy gourmet deli and catering services, a full liquor section and a growing gift basket e-commerce division.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Our store hours are 7am to 9pm Sunday through Thursday, and 7am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday.

Morning shift: 6am-2pm and 7am-3pm

We are currently hiring for day (6/7/8am-2/3/4pm), mid (11am-7pm) and night shifts (2/3pm-9pm), with availability on Fridays and at least one day of the weekend required.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide exemplary customer service by greeting customers in the department and ensuring their orders are filled to meet their expectations.
• Deli team members are also expected to make suggestions to our customers to enhance their shopping experience.
• Become familiar with products in the store to answer questions and make suggestions to customers.
• Our deli consists of multiple parts such as a bakery case, prepared food case, and sandwich line. We are also responsible for takeout orders via delivery apps, as well as catering orders.
• Deli members are required to set up the prepared food case, grab and go case, and sandwich line.
• Responsible for helping customers with cold cut orders, sandwich orders, and deli case orders.
• Must be comfortable with using slicers, knives, and panini presses.
• Properly handle products and equipment in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines to ensure a safe shopping environment.
• Replenish product in the deli cases, rotating product and ensuring code dating procedures are followed.
• Accurately record and assist in preparation of deli special orders to ensure the customer is delighted with the finished product.
• Maintain cleanliness of department and work area, including the back room.
• Rotate and check code dates on products to ensure customers’ safety.
• Assist in other areas as required.
• The ideal candidate is great at multitasking, customer service, and is familiar with handling food.
