Philz Coffee is seeking Assistant General Managers to join our growing store leadership team in California. You will oversee operations, people development, and program rollouts, while ensuring top-notch customer experience.

You’ll manage staffing, training, and compliance, coach team members, and drive adherence to safety standards, labor costs, and quality. This role offers growth across store leadership and potential central roles.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of supervisory experience in fast-paced food & beverage.
• 1–2 years in people programs such as hiring, training, coaching.
• Experience with store-level promotions and rollout programs.
• Experience managing schedules, inventory, payroll, and compliance.
• Strong food safety and risk management experience.
• Familiarity with labor and food cost controls.
• Proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft Suite; scheduling/inventory systems a plus.
• Flexible to work varied days and shifts.

As we open new stores in new communities, we're looking for Assistant General Managers (AGM) who want to grow with us. Our AGM roles are fantastic opportunities for continued growth in retail leadership, home office, and/or roasting plant positions.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Assistant General Managers are members of the store’s leadership team and use independent judgment to oversee key aspects of Philz company initiatives, financial results, store operations, and team member development, including areas such as:

• Oversee key components of store operations, including staffing levels, food costs, customer experience, and team performance
• Manage food and operations safety standards, run monthly audits, and ensure prompt follow-up
• Ensure a store experience that is in line with Philz's core values and standards
• Respond to customer feedback across all channels and take action to improve the store experience
• Coach and evaluate team members, providing feedback and making decisions that support their growth
• Lead the rollout of new initiatives and ensure your team is trained and ready

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• 2–3 years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced, high-volume food & beverage environment
• 1-2 years of experience in people programs such as hiring, training, and coaching team members
• Previous experience in store-level rollouts of promotions and programs
• Experience managing scheduling, inventory, payroll, and compliance
• Strong experience supervising food safety and other risk management programs
• Familiarity with financial controls, including labor and food cost management
• Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Suite. Exposure to scheduling and/or inventory systems a plus
• Schedule flexibility and willing and able to work a variety of days and shifts

Required: To ensure the well-being of our team members and community, you will need to secure a Food Manager certification OR complete the Philz Coffee Food Manager certification within the first 30 days of employmen t.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bending, Reaching, Pulling, Pushing, Extending arms/hands for the majority of shift.
• Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
• Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
• Exerting up to 20-40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

A reasonable estimate of the starting base hourly rate for this role is $29.00 - $33.00.
