Job summary

Innovative Defense Technologies, a defense technology company, seeks a Software Systems Engineer Intern for its Missile Defense team. The position is based on-site in Mount Laurel, NJ, with potential locations in San Diego or Arlington.

You will develop, test, and maintain software applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams on new capabilities and security-compliant solutions. The role requires students in software engineering, CS, or related fields, with familiarity in Git,

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in software engineering, CS, computer or electrical engineering, data science, cyber security, math, or aeronautical engineering.
• Proficient with Git or similar version control systems.
• Experience with Linux environments and command-line tools.
• Familiarity with SQL and PostgreSQL or relational databases.
• Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker, Podman, or OCI-compliant containers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain software applications and features.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new capabilities and fix defects.
• Write reliable, maintainable code following engineering, security, and quality standards.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging.
• Integrate software components and APIs into existing systems.
• Support deployment, maintenance, and modernization efforts.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and development artifacts.
• Contribute across the software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
