Job summary

Sensata Technologies in South Burlington, VT is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to advance military power conversion products. You will lead design activities, interact with customers, and ensure compliant, verifiable mechanical designs for defense programs.

A MIL-917E background and experience with PDR/CDR milestones are highly valued. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree, strong communication skills, and familiarity with SolidWorks, GD&T, and multiple manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• A university degree required (Bachelor) or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
• Experience with NAVSEA shipboard products preferred.
• Experience guiding projects through PDR/CDR milestones per MIL-917E.
• Modeling and simulation tools: SolidWorks, EPDM, FEA, CFD, thermal analysis, vibration/shock.
• Understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and production-ready drawings.
• Travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Leverages engineering fundamentals to solve complex technical issues.
• Maintain product drawings and specifications across projects.
• Lead mechanical design activities on cross-functional New Product Development teams.
• Direct interaction with customers to solicit specifications, schedule and budget.
• Corrosion research and welding characterization supporting manufacturing.
• Familiarity with manufacturing methods: welding, brazing, soldering, machining, forming.
• Assist with prototype builds and production validation activities.
• Apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical interfaces and testing processes.
