Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Defect Reduction Engineer to drive yield and stability in advanced semiconductor fabrication. You will lead NPI defect-reduction strategies, define inline inspection methodologies, and trace defects to root causes using tools like Bright Field, Dark Field, and E-beam.

You will collaborate with YE, PIE, and UP teams to establish BKMs, reduce SWLY, and support technology transfers from Samsung HQ in South Korea. The role is full-time and on-site in Austin.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemistry, Physics).
• Minimum 5 years in semiconductor process engineering focusing on defect monitoring or yield engineering.
• Experience with leading-edge nodes (14nm or below) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive defect reduction strategies for NPI and ramp-up.
• Define inspection strategy and monitoring plans for inline processes.
• Identify root causes via tool trend data and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with YE, PIE, and UP teams to transfer methods and BKMs.
• Support foundry customer data needs and technology transfers.
