Job summary

Howmet Aerospace is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer at the Howmet Research Center in Whitehall, Michigan. The role focuses on building advanced deep learning and generative models to solve manufacturing challenges across casting, alloy, core, and rings facilities.

Design/optimise CNNs, diffusion models, and other architectures, while leveraging Python/SQL for data handling and presenting findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on deep learning and ML with production/field data in Python.
• Experience with feature engineering techniques (creation, selection, transformation).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evaluate deep learning architectures (CNNs, Mask R‑CNNs, YOLO).
• Train and optimize generative models (diffusion, VAEs, GANs).
• Build and refine ML algorithms to enhance Howmet products.
• Analyze large datasets using Python and SQL.
• Apply transfer learning for data-scarce datasets; finetune models.
