Job summary

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Missouri seeks a Deckhand to maintain and repair deck equipment on dredges, towboats and barges. You’ll perform housekeeping and operate barge winches.

Work outdoors in varying weather, lift up to 50 pounds, and follow instructions with minimal supervision. This position is done in a marine/shore environment and involves safety-conscious practices around water and heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• Ability to do the work of a(n) Deckhand ~ without more than normal supervision.
• Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Reliability and Dependability as a Deckhand Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order)

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of the deck and general housekeeping on dredges, towboats, barges or other floating plant vessels.
• Operate barge winches, boat winches, and/or ratchets to service fleet river barges.
• Perform cleaning, sweeping, polishing and other housekeeping duties as required.
