Canal Barge Company is hiring a Deckhand to work on our fleet of Inland Towing and Fleeting Vessels. The role emphasizes safety, physical work, and crew coordination to prepare barges for transport.

Applicants should be safety-conscious, able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen, and willing to work long shifts with rotation. TWIC and a valid driver's license are required, with a high school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate safety practices and manage risk on deck.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Hold a valid Driver's License and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare barges for safe and timely transport on Inland Towing and Fleeting vessels.
• Make up and break tow, operate winches and ratchets, handle lines and splicing.
• Drop, spot and switch barges at docks and maintain vessel cleanliness.
• Inspect and maintain equipment, report hazardous conditions to supervisors.
• Adhere to safety, USCG and environmental regulations.
