Job summary

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (DOA) in Fountain City, WI seeks a deckhand to support the St. Paul District's Maintenance & Repair Section. You will work on floating plan units, including pipeline and dredge vessels, performing heavy lifting, rigging, and routine maintenance, with travel up to 75%.

Qualifications

• Experience performing deckhand duties with line handling and tow making up or breaking up tow operations.
• Ability to handle ropes, cables, rigging and deck equipment under supervision.
• Willingness to work in outdoor, marine environments and perform preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Handle rope lines and towing cables to couple/uncouple barges and secure floating plant.
• Connect/repair pipelines, assist in tow operations and vessel movement.
• Remove obstructions from cutterhead pump and pipelines.
• Assist in running cables between cutterhead and swing anchor as required.
• Perform deck cleaning, lubrication and maintenance as directed.
