Qualifications

  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing under U.S. Coast Guard regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Captain with vessel operations and safety procedures.
  • Support docking, line handling, and passenger boarding/disembarking.
  • Perform light maintenance and general housekeeping aboard the vessel.
  • Uphold safety and security standards in compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations.
  • Understand and execute emergency procedures when needed.
  • Collaborate with the Marine Crew to deliver a seamless guest experience.
  • Greet and assist passengers, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the tour.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready vessel.

Deckhand

Seasonal | August–November 2026 | Start Dates: Mid-August

This position pays a starting hourly wage of $17.05 and increases to $18.50 upon completion of training and deckhand sign off.

Position Summary

Shoreline Sightseeing is seeking dedicated, safety-focused Deckhands to join our Marine Crew for the 2026 season. As a Deckhand, you’ll work closely with the Captain and fellow crew members to ensure smooth vessel operations and, most importantly, the safety and enjoyment of our passengers.

This hands-on role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, thrive in a team environment, and are interested in gaining valuable maritime experience on Chicago’s waterways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Captain with vessel operations and safety procedures
