Deckhands at Brennan Marine Inc.

Deckhands are essential to our operations at Brennan Marine Inc., supporting the maintenance and operation of our tugboats. We are seeking an entry-level deckhand to join our skilled crew.

As a deckhand, you will play a vital role in our organization, helping to transport products safely over long distances. You are a key worker in the US economy, ensuring commodities reach their destinations securely.

Deckhand Responsibilities
  1. Assist in switching and fleeting barges under the supervision of the mate/pilot.
  2. Work with a small team to ensure safe transportation of products.
  3. Perform various tasks including tow operations, engine maintenance, and vessel housekeeping.
  4. Inspect barges for damage and leaks, sometimes entering confined spaces.
  5. Use lines, wires, ratchets, and winches to manage tows in all weather conditions.
  6. Operate tools and equipment such as shackles, chain straps, and wires.
  7. Conduct maintenance tasks like cleaning, painting, and rigging transfers.
  8. Report vessel conditions and unsafe situations to the crew to prevent accidents.
Minimum Requirements
  • Ability to work safely and follow safety protocols.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Clear communication skills, especially over radio.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in any weather.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Willingness to learn and perform challenging tasks safely.
  • Must pass pre-employment screenings including background checks, physical, and DOT drug tests.
