Job summary

Goldfish Swim School is seeking a part-time Deck Supervisor to lead the swim deck, supervise the lesson flow, and develop the deck team. You will coach instructors, lifeguards, and deck assistants, while ensuring a safe and engaging experience for every student and family.

Evening and weekend availability is required, with a focus on clear communication and ownership of shifts. You will oversee daily logs, staff evaluations, and coordination of coverage to maintain on-brand operations and

Qualifications

• Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid and AED certifications must be current and active.
• Experience in youth coaching, camp leadership, or teaching is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the shift from start to finish - prepare the deck and lead pre/post-shift meetings to keep lessons on time.
• Coach Swim Instructors, Deck Assistants, and Lifeguards with direct observation and feedback.
• Interact with parents to discuss progress and ensure member satisfaction.
• Complete daily Deck Supervisor logs and monitor attendance.
• Conduct periodic evaluations and provide actionable feedback to staff.
• Coordinate facility cleanliness and ensure pool standards during the shift.
• Arrange coverage for absent team members to keep shifts running smoothly.
• Step in as substitute Swim Instructor or Lifeguard when needed.
• Identify areas for improvement and drive training to implement corrective actions.

Job Title: Deck Supervisor

Reports to: Assistant Manager - Aquatics

FLSA Status: Part time, Non-Exempt

Summary: We’re looking for a confident, organized, and coaching-minded leader to join our team as a Deck Supervisor. This is a shift leadership role at its core - you’ll oversee the flow of lessons, lead and develop your deck team, and make sure every student and family has a golden experience every single visit. If you're someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, takes ownership seriously, communicates with clarity, and gets energy from helping others grow, this role is built for you.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Own the shift from start to finish - prepare the deck, lead pre-shift and post-shift meetings, and keep lessons running on time and on brand.
• Coach Swim Instructors, Deck Assistants, and Lifeguards through direct observation and honest, specific feedback that drives real improvement.
• Interact with parents and guardians at the end of every lesson to discuss student progress and act as a GSS ambassador who ensures member satisfaction.
• Complete daily Deck Supervisor logs and monitor student attendance on assigned shifts.
• Conduct periodic evaluations of Swim Instructors and provide actionable feedback.
• Coordinate facility cleanliness tasks and ensure the pool environment meets our standards throughout the shift.
• Help arrange coverage for absent team members to keep shifts running smoothly.
• Step in as a substitute Swim Instructor or Lifeguard when needed.
• Identify areas for improvement and help implement corrective action through training.

What We’re Looking For

• Current Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required and must remain active.
• Background in youth sports coaching, camp leadership, or teaching is a plus.
• A natural coach who gives feedback early, often, and with intention.
• Calm under pressure and able to make decisions quickly when it matters.
• Must be available for evening and weekend shifts.
• While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat, humidity, and chlorine. Noise level is usually moderate.
