Qualifications

• Knowledge of lifting techniques; CIP chemicals and PPI safety considerations.
• Knowledge of augers, guards, and lock-out/tag-out procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate decanter, finisher, and pasteurizer processes including delivery and waste removal.
• Monitor Mash cooler during startup for 20 minutes to detect issues.
• Perform CIP on pasteurizers 1&2 and a 1-hour flush to filter tanks and finishers.
• Change finisher bins and perform critical valve changes to direct product flow.
• Move pumice truck when full and ensure pumice pumps and augers are functioning; drive forklift.

Starting Pay: $20-20.50/hr

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the safe operation of the finishers, heat exchangers and decanters.

1. Role in Safe Quality Food (SQF)

• Decanter operator is responsible for ensuring the product sent from the mash cooler to decanter to Pasteurizers 1 & 2 meet the CCP1 guidelines for temperature and flow rate. If the temperature is not within control limits, then the Decanter operator must stop the process and notify the Production and Maintenance Supervisor as well as the Manufacturing and QA Managers.
• Follow all SunRype Food Safety guidelines and Personal Health, Hygiene and GMP’s.

2. Responsibilities:

• Proper operation of the decanter, finisher, and pasteurizer processes both on the delivery side of this equipment as well as the waste removal process.
• Watch the Mash cooler for 20 minutes of the start-up to ensure no issues.
• Conduct proper CIP on pasteurizers 1&2 and 1 hour flush to filter tanks as well as to finishers.
• Change finisher bins.
• Perform critical valve changes to send product to correct vessels.
• Move pumice truck when full and ensure pumice pumps and augers are working.
• Ability to drive forklift.

4. Physical Requirements:

This position requires the following physical demands up to 90% of the time:

• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Must be able to carry 25 pounds up and down 21 stairs.
• Must be able to stand for 8 hours during a shift minus breaks and lunch.
• Must be able to work in hot, humid and/or cold conditions.
• Must be able to stand, bend, squat, crawl, kneel, reach above shoulders, climb ladders and crawl in tight and awkward workplaces for long periods of time.
• Must have good hand-eye coordination.

5. Non-Physical Requirements:

A. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

B. Experience: Minimum one year experience as a decanter operator preferred.

C. Special Skills :

• Knowledge and awareness of proper lifting techniques.

• Backup for Decanter/Finisher operator would be another qualified decanter operator from the same shift or different shifts to cover the 8-hour shift.
