Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for a Decanter Operator to ensure the production of high-quality juice products per customer requirements and company standards. This role will be responsible for properly starting and stopping Clean In Place (CIP) juice processing equipment; maintaining required operational parameters to ensure specifications of juice products; and maintaining accurate and thorough records per management instructions at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Always promote food safety culture as a priority in all situations, for example through conversations, communications, and actions.
  • Clean area and equipment.
  • Knowledge of what valves/pipes to use and how to open and close them and where they go.
  • Fill the tank and check the pectin and starch.
  • Operate decanters to turn them on and off and make running adjustments.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift operator certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
  • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task and make critical decisions while following company procedures.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, and work extended hours and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to November.

Compensation:

The hourly union wage is $23.80.
