Description

The DEC Technician is responsible for the installation, adjustment, and maintenance of all types of detention-related equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain equipment including, but not limited to, cylindrical, mortise, and rim locks, motor and manually driven detention equipment, detention locks, slider service, and maintenance.
  • Install and maintain frames, doors, hardware, locks, sliders, furniture, and door closers.
  • Install wire mesh, security ceilings, wall panels, glazing, and caulking.
  • Plan, install, service, and test mechanical and electronic locking systems.
  • Make emergency repairs to detention and security locking systems.
  • Layout detention equipment for proper locations based on construction documents and shop drawings.
  • Handle and distribute construction materials such as doors, frames, glass, hardware, steel furniture, and steel assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and mechanical problems related to detention equipment.
  • Be available for on-call assignments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Service Manager and/or Coordinator.
  • Open, repair, and change the combination of all types of locking devices and make keys for them.
  • Repair and maintain all types of doors, door closers, exit devices, panic hardware, and related hardware.
  • Operate manual key coding/cutting machines.
  • Log issued and returned keys.
  • Assist with building maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, or other essential functions.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Qualifications and Skills
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • At least 3 years of related experience.
    • Welding experience.

    Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
