Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Automotive buffing, polishing, or autobody finishing experience is highly preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing or metal finishing experience preferred.
  • Experience using pneumatic grinders, sanders, buffers, or other finishing tools.
  • Familiarity with non-electric hand tools preferred.
  • Ability to read basic drawings and use basic measuring equipment.
  • Commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work with precision components and maintain consistent finishing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Deburr and remove sharp edges, excess material, and imperfections from aluminum components.
  • Perform grinding, blending, sanding, and buffing operations using pneumatic and hand tools.
  • Produce consistent surface finishes according to work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Inspect parts visually and using basic measuring equipment to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Record activity in the ERP system for time and piece count tracking.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and properly care for tools and equipment.
  • Work with Quality and Production to identify and address quality or process concerns.

Job description

The Deburrer / Grinder will be responsible for deburring, grinding, blending, and finishing aluminum chassis and cold plates for the Aerospace and Defense industries. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to produce consistent, high-quality finishes on precision components. Automotive or autobody experience, particularly buffing, polishing, or metal finishing, is highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Strive towards a culture of proactive safety.
  • Deburr and remove sharp edges, excess material, and imperfections from aluminum components.
  • Perform grinding, blending, sanding, and buffing operations using pneumatic and hand tools.
  • Produce consistent surface finishes according to work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Use appropriate tools and techniques to prevent damage to soft or finished surfaces.
  • Inspect parts visually and using basic measuring equipment to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Follow Job Travelers and specific routing steps for each operation.
  • Record activity in the ERP system for time and piece count tracking.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and properly care for tools and equipment.
  • Work with Quality and Production to identify and address quality or process concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate machine controls, tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and components weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required to load, unload, and inspect parts and equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Ability to visually inspect parts, interpret and read blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and use gauges, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, dimensions, and surface defects when performing quality inspections.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment in a fast-paced production setting while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and other equipment as required.
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to machine noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, including overtime as required.
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment.
  • Frequent interaction with machine tools, raw materials, and finished products.
  • Compliance with all company safety policies, housekeeping requirements, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention practices.
  • Required use of appropriate PPE and adherence to all safety procedures.
