Job summary

Valcor Engineering Corporation is seeking a skilled Machine Shop Operator in New Jersey. Under supervision you will operate and adjust manual or NC machine tools to perform standard sequences from blueprints and specs, ensuring quality and efficiency.

You will set up manual machines with prescribed speeds and tooling, operate CNC machines when programs are ready, and use shop measuring devices to verify tolerances.

Qualifications

  • Experience reading blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
  • Proficient with manual and CNC machines.
  • Familiar with standard shop measuring devices.

Responsibilities

  • Set up manual machines with prescribed speeds, feeds, and tooling operations.
  • Operate CNC machines where programs are approved and setups are maintained by others.
  • Remove burrs and rough edges from parts using filing, deburring and polishing operations.
  • Remove scratches, burrs and tool marks from parts using a microscope or magnifier.
  • Use standard shop measuring devices for inspection and verification of tolerances.
  • Sharpen drill tools on grinding wheel as necessary.
  • Operate automatic welding equipment as required.
  • Move parts and materials to and from the work area.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervision.

Job description

Under general supervision working from blueprints, sketches, verbal and/or written specifications, operates and adjusts manual or numerically controlled machine tools to perform standard and repetitive sequence of operations.

Additional Job Duties Are As Follows
  • Sets up manual machines where speeds, feeds and sequences of tooling operations are ordinarily prescribed.
  • Operates numerically controlled machines where programs are approved and setups are made and maintained by others.
  • Removes burrs and rough edges from machine component parts using a variety of hand operations, such as; filing, deburring and performing polishing operations.
  • Removes scratches, burrs and tool marks from parts, using microscope or magnifier.
  • Uses standard shop measuring devices.
  • Sharpens drill tools on grinding wheel as necessary.
  • Operates automatic welding equipment.
  • Moves parts and materials to and from work area.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in work area.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervision.

Requires minimum of four years’ experience as a general machine shop operator with demonstrated acceptable performance on both the required machine and manual operations.
