Summary

Finish, grind, sand, polish, inspect, clean/wash, and package parts and components using hand tools, hand-held power tools, and power equipment.

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 5:00am to 3:30pm

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Review order, router, job traveler, inspection instructions, to determine sequencing of work-piece surfacing, finishing, and/or cleaning and packaging operations.
  • Mark and/or tag defects including burrs, cracks, and splits for repair.
  • Inspect, measure, and mark work pieces prior to surface finishing operations, if applicable.
  • Select abrasive material, tools, and equipment according to materials, sizes and shape of work pieces, amount of surface to be removed, specified finish, and sequence of operation, if applicable.
  • Grind, sand, polish, and clean work pieces to remove burrs, correct defects, or to prepare surfaces for further finishing using hand tools, power tools, and power equipment.
  • Move tool and equipment controls to adjust, start, or stop during surface finishing and cleaning, if applicable.
  • Perform work-piece in-process inspection, if applicable. Make adjustments as necessary.
  • Load and unload work-pieces into commercial washer and tumbler.
  • Using company provided computer/software, processes job order data and completes required forms.
  • Performs inventory material handling including retrieving, moving and storage of material, tooling, and work-pieces.
  • Maintains an organized, clean and safe environment and maintains 5 “S” standards. Complies with safety rules including PPE and OSHA standards.
  • Participates in Lean initiatives eliminating wastes including overproduction, defects, transportation, waiting, inventory, motion, packaging, and over-processing.
Required Skills and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to use and operate hand, power tools, and equipment including sanding, grinding, polishing, and cleaning.
  • Proficient reading, writing, oral communication, and comprehension in English language.
  • Knowledge of math including arithmetic.
  • Ability to perform visual work-piece inspection.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Cooperative attitude, shares critical information, and remains professional in difficult situations.
  • Self-directed; ability to work independently.
  • This position may require use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All employees must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee.
