Job summary

Belvac in Lynchburg, VA, is seeking a skilled deburr operator to set up and run quality parts for limited runs. You will grind metal parts to precise shapes, inspect with basic gauging tools, and move materials through the process while adhering to safety policies.

The role requires standing for long periods, familiarity with various grinders, and the ability to read drawings and job orders. This is a full-time onsite position with a comprehensive benefit package.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent Certificate.
• Experience with metal grinding and grinders.
• Ability to read drawings and job orders/guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and run Quality Parts for limited runs.
• Grind metal parts to groove, bevel, round or straighten edges; remove excess stock.
• Position work piece manually and guide tool along guidelines.
• Inspect work using rule, straight edge or template.
• Tend tumbling machine to smooth metal parts with cleaning compound.
• Operate drill press to drill/tap and cut parts when required.
• Follow established Safety Policies and Procedures.

With over 300 employees across seven locations worldwide, Belvac is able to support customers in real time in over 150+ countries.**General Function**: Set-up and run Quality Parts usually for limited runs while analyzing and selecting tooling according to requirements of job. **Primary Responsibilities**:· It is every BPM, Inc. Employee’s responsibility to be aware of and work with Belvac's current documented Quality Management System as it pertains to their job requirements· Part marks parts· Grinds metal parts to groove, bevel, round our straighten edges or remove excess stock from metal as specified by drawings, job orders or guidelines to remove defects such as cracks, holes, burrs using portable grinder, pedestal grinder, pencil grinder and hand files.· Position work piece manually· Guides tool along specified guidelines on edge or surface of work piece· Inspects work using rule, straight edge or template· Tends tumbling machine to smooth metal parts with specified amount of cleaning compound· Occasionally will use drill press to drill and tap and cut parts to specified length, provided machining process cannot· Follow established Safety Policies and Procedures· Use of fixtures· Must keep assigned machine(s) and work area cleaned and neat· Use of sandblaster.· All employees performing a work sequence on any work order are required to physically move and transact the material to the next sequence once their task has been completed.· All employees utilizing dispatch sheets shall run jobs in date sequence without exception, unless directed otherwise by cognizant Manager and/or Production Planners.· It is every employee’s responsibility to improve processes to reduce set-up and run-time standards. This shall be a performance measure during all employee evaluations. **Education**: HS Diploma or Equivalent Certificate **Physical Requirements**:· Requires long periods of standing (up to 10 hours/day)· Must be able to operate overhead cranes· Although all production areas have overhead cranes, on occasion Manufacturing, Stockroom and Assembly employees may choose to lift items by hand for convenience.
