What We Need
Kymeta is looking for a DEBUG Customer Support Engineer to assist Kymeta engineering and operations in the repair and updating of Kymeta’s unique flat panel satellite terminals and associated subassemblies. This role requires greater than 50% travel since most tasks performed will be at customer sites.
The successful candidate is a self-motivated team player with a proven track record in troubleshooting and repair of component level failures in electronic assemblies.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travel more than 50% of time, must have valid passport.
- Performs testing, debug, and minor assembly repairs on Kymeta’s antenna and terminal assemblies using released procedures and test hardware.
- Generates rework plans and organizes activities to facilitate their execution.
- Ability to troubleshoot analog and digital electronic assemblies to the board/sub-assembly level.
- Ability to contribute to multidisciplinary rapid problem-solving activities and propose solutions to prototype and production manufacturing challenges.
- Ability to quickly come up to speed on new technologies and engineering challenges.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership to all assigned areas of responsibility. Communicates test results and issues for each shift to the cross-functional assembly team.
- Assists in the assembly of production articles as certified employee as required.
- May participate in the selection, set-up and use of specialized EE and RF test equipment.
- Participates in continuous improvement quality processes (lean manufacturing, ISO, etc.).
- Must be willing to participate in tasks outside of normal responsibilities such as assembly and material handling.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot industry communication protocol (TCP Networking/Serial (RS232)) issues.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Hands on experience with repair of complex systems.
- Expert in use of troubleshooting equipment (voltmeter, oscilloscope, signal and function generators).
- Proficient in generating written instructions, repair plans and estimates.
- Proficient in reading/interpreting electronics/wiring schematics.
- Lean six sigma and statistical analysis package (e.g. Minitab or JMP) competency desired.
- Ability to communicate information using standard Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, Office, Power Point, Project, and Visio.
- Ability to use company-wide tools and systems to execute the key duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Proficient in generating written instructions, repair plans and estimates.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electronic testing/troubleshooting.
- RF test experience is highly desired.
- Experience and understanding in TCP Networking and Serial (RS232) interfaces desired.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
