Position Information

Responsible for University’s debt compliance and external reporting to creditors and the federal government. Calculate and compare University’s financial metrics and credit ratings to benchmarks. Position will also be responsible for the University’s treasury functions, such as cash and investment management, working with PNC to optimize banking services and assess merchant services needs.
Primary Responsibilities
Debt compliance and reporting. Debt reporting includes compiling and submitting accurate data to the University’s credit rating agency to review NKU’s credit rating. These credit rating assessments impact the University’s ability to borrow and the borrowing rate. Compile Securities and Exchange Commission annual report allowing bondholders to assess NKU’s financial health and debt default risk. Monitor changes to NKU’s bond credit rating, bond insurance and other factors to ensure compliance and timely reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Manage the University’s cash and state investments to maximize investment returns. Position will monitor the Federal Reserve decisions regarding the target federal funds rate to determine the appropriate investment allocations. This position will also research local investment options, such as high yield checking accounts and certificates of deposit.
Generate reports and analyze results to validate data integrity. Identify inaccurate data and errors and take actions to rectify, potentially including changes to the FI structure and master data.
Create and maintain financial accounting reports. Reports include, but are not limited to, general receipts revenues, scholarship discounting, deferrals, etc.
Oversee disbursement processes and reimbursement from the Commonwealth of Kentucky to ensure that outgoing payments are reconciled and approved, while subsequently monitoring available balances are sufficient to cover all necessary outgoing payments. Work with Kentucky’s Office of Financial Management to move funds accordingly.
Manage security roles for SAP FI access. Security requests will be directed to this role to ensure that FI roles on campus are accurately assigned and do not violate separation of duties. Assign access as needed to the FI BW Portfolio.
Maintaining University’s FI structure and creating new master data when needed. Review requests for new master data and approve or make changes accordingly.
This position is the primary banking contact for the University. This includes working with the bank to implement new accounts and services as needed, maintaining authorized signatories and reviewing banking service charges.
Monitor funds appropriated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to confirm funds are utilized on a timely basis.
Merchant services primary contact, including requesting new merchant IDs, maintaining merchant IDs and reporting as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of University Accounting and Treasury Services.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and five years of directly related experience are required.
Master’s of Accountancy, Finance, or Business Administration and a minimum of three years of directly related experience is an acceptable equivalency.
Applicant must have strong communication and analytical skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
