Job summary

Wind River, an Aptiv company, is seeking a Linux Development Engineer to advance the eLxr Debian-based Linux distribution. You will build, package, and automate delivery, contribute to open-source projects, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable Linux platform capabilities for mission-critical systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on development with Python, Go, Bash, C, and C++, plus CI/CD pipeline management.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Linux systems development or distribution engineering experience.
• Experience with Debian or Debian-based distributions.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects.
• Programming experience in Python, Go, Bash, C, or C++.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
• Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals, tools, and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance system components for the eLxr Debian-based Linux distribution.
• Create, update, and maintain Debian packages throughout the distribution lifecycle.
• Contribute patches, bug fixes, and feature enhancements to open-source projects.
• Develop high-quality software using Python, Go, Bash, C, and C++.
• Build and maintain GitLab CI or GitHub Actions pipelines to automate builds, tests, and deployments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Linux user-space and low-level components.
• Document development processes and design decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support platform integration and feature delivery.
