Class Purpose
Please note that this recruitment will be used to fill two Dean ofLearning and Success positions. Both positions will carry the sametitle and will have blended responsibilities spanning StudentServices and Instruction, with distinct areas of leadershipresponsibility.
The anticipated areas of focus are:
- Dean of Student Learning and Success – EnrollmentManagement
- Dean of Student Learning and Success – Liberal Arts andSocial Science
Candidates may be considered for either position based on the needsof the District and the candidate's qualifications andexperience.
Under general direction, provides day-to-day administration,operational leadership, and supervision of programs, services,personnel, and budgets of assigned instructional programs, studentservices, or an integrated portfolio of educational programs.Provides leadership in support of student success, enrollment,retention, completion, transfer, workforce development, andequitable outcomes. Collaborates with faculty, classifiedprofessionals, administrators, students, and community partners toadvance institutional goals and ensure compliance with applicablelaws, regulations, accreditation standards, and Districtpolicies.
Examples of Duties
Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides operational leadership, planning, and administrativeoversight for assigned instructional, student services, orintegrated educational programs and departments.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates short- and long-rangegoals, objectives, operational plans, and program improvementinitiatives.
- Promotes student-centered practices and advances equitableaccess, success, and completion for all students.
- Directs and evaluates assigned personnel, including hiring,onboarding, performance management, professional development, anddisciplinary processes.
- Develops, monitors, and manages assigned budgets, grants,categorical funding, and other resources.
- Participates in program review, assessment, accreditationactivities, strategic planning, and continuous quality improvementefforts.
- Provides operational oversight for instructional programs andacademic services, including curriculum development processes,class scheduling, faculty assignment and evaluation workflows,instructional support centers, instructional quality, studentlearning outcomes, educational effectiveness and related academicoperations as assigned.
- Provides operational oversight for student support programs andservices, including but not limited to counseling, enrollmentservices, financial aid, special programs, student successinitiatives, and related services as assigned.
- Analyzes data and performance metrics to identify trends,inform decision-making, and improve institutionaleffectiveness.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships witheducational institutions, business and industry partners,governmental agencies, community organizations, and otherstakeholders.
- Ensures compliance with accreditation requirements, Title 5regulations, Education Code provisions, federal and state mandates,and District policies.
- Leads change management initiatives and organizationalimprovement efforts.
- Serves on District and college committees, task forces, andshared governance bodies.
- Represents the College and District at meetings, conferences,and community events.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Master's degree from an accredited institution.
Experience
- Three (3) years of experience in higher education.
- Experience in instruction, student services programs, or othereducational leadership functions is desirable.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference/background check (to include a conviction record) and maybe required to pass a post-offer pre-employment medical examination including a drug/alcohol screening depending upon job classification.
