Job description

Overview

Dean|Fluor is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician.

Key responsibilities include installation, maintenance, testing, calibration, and commissioning of electrical systems and components. The technician will work on low, medium, and high voltage systems to ensure safe, timely, and compliant electrical maintenance, adhering to manufacturer recommendations.

Responsibilities

  1. Install, maintain, test, calibrate, and commission electrical systems and components.
  2. Act as "Employee in Charge" on select jobs, ensuring efficient planning and safety completion.
  3. Perform additional assignments as needed, with some supervision.
  4. Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and service documents, including manufacturer instructions.
  5. Maintain personal support equipment, PPE, hand tools, and test equipment.
  6. Prioritize safety for oneself and others by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
  7. Select and wear appropriate PPE based on task requirements.
  8. Follow Standard Operating Procedures and Switching Plans meticulously.
  9. Utilize troubleshooting tools such as digital multimeters, clamp meters, power quality meters, infrared scanners, and circuit tracers.
  10. Calibrate and commission protective relays.
  11. Verify control wiring through point-to-point testing.
  12. Perform equipment switching, isolation, LOTO procedures, zero volt checks, and grounding.
  13. Conduct maintenance and inspections on various equipment including circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers, and related systems.
  14. Understand and apply NETA MTS testing standards.
  15. Record test and inspection data accurately using Power DB and Maximo.
  16. Assist in start-up services for switchgear and electrical systems up to 138 kV.
  17. Lead safety meetings as required.
  18. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety policies.
  19. Build and maintain strong team and client relationships.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. At least 10 years of progressive, hands-on experience in a similar environment.
  3. Proven leadership skills for scheduling and executing work efficiently.
  4. Ability to interpret complex technical instructions, plans, and schematics.
  5. Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NETA practices, and quality procedures.
  6. Experience evaluating complex electrical systems and diagnosing malfunctions.
  7. Minimum of five years in facilities maintenance, with experience in data centers or mission-critical environments.
  8. Ability to prioritize tasks independently.
  9. Comfort working in confined spaces, on ladders, and lifting heavy equipment.
  10. Valid licensing and certification as required by local regulations.
  11. Active license depending on service location.
  12. Physical ability to lift and exert effort as needed.
  13. Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned.
  14. Capability to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Abilities

  1. Lift at least 100 pounds at once and 60 pounds for extended periods.
  2. Relocate a 12-foot ladder unaided.
  3. Work at heights up to 60 feet, climbing and balancing on scaffolds, lifts, and ladders.
  4. Perform routine physical activities such as walking, climbing, lifting, and reaching.
  5. Maintain good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, and communicate effectively in English.
  6. Recognize potential problems or issues in systems.
  7. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical solutions.
  8. Identify relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
  9. See details within close range clearly.
  10. Understand spoken information and ideas effectively.
