Job summary

West Liberty University invites internal candidates for the position of Dean of the College of Sciences. The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer, providing vision, leadership, and strategic direction while fostering academic excellence, innovation, student success, and collaborative scholarship.

This leadership role is open to current WLU employees only; external applications will not be considered.

Qualifications

• Current West Liberty University employee.
• Minimum rank of Associate Professor at the time of appointment.
• Minimum of two years of full-time faculty experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in higher education, academic administration, committee leadership, program coordination, or related areas.
• Preferred qualifications include earned doctoral degree, accreditation experience, budget management, strategic planning, and personnel supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the College of Sciences.
• Lead development, assessment, and continuous improvement of academic programs and curricula.
• Ensure successful accreditation outcomes and maintain relationships with accrediting and external agencies.
• Provide strategic leadership for enrollment growth, student retention, and student success initiatives across the College.
• Champion faculty and student engagement in research, scholarship, and creative activities.
• Foster excellence in teaching, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Manage college budgets, facilities, personnel, and resources.
