Job summary

The Dean will lead curriculum development, coordinate program evaluation, and oversee teaching, advising, and service duties, reporting to the President of the Larkin School of Nursing, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Graduate or doctoral degree with a nursing major as listed in the requirements.
• Demonstrated eligibility for nursing education leadership in Florida.
• Ability to oversee curriculum development, program evaluation, and compliance with regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

• Lead faculty in curriculum development and instructional advancement in nursing.
• Coordinate annual program evaluation and assessment of institutional effectiveness.
• Assess instructional needs and develop plans to address them.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with Florida Board of Nursing, Florida Department of Education, and accrediting bodies; supervise teaching activities.

Education

Graduate Degree with a major in Nursing (MSN, MA in Nursing)

Doctoral Degree with a major in Nursing (DNP, DNS, PhD in Nursing)

Master's in a non-nursing discipline with a doctoral degree in Nursing (MBA + DNP/DNS/PhD)

Master's in a non-nursing discipline with a non-nursing doctoral degree plus a nursing post-master certificate

The Dean of Larkin School of Nursing provides leadership in academic and administrative areas.

The Dean reports directly to the President of the Larkin School of Nursing.

The Dean maintains effective relationships with internal and external constituents.

The Dean is responsible for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals, objectives, and program compliance with the Florida Department of Education and Florida Board of Nursing.

The position requires leadership in academic and workforce areas that include student retention and placement goals, directing and participating in educational planning in achieving these activities, the faculty contributes to the school’s mission and objective.

The responsibilities for this position will include some of the following: teaching, student advising, service, administrative responsibilities

Academic Responsibilities

Lead the faculty in curriculum development and instructional advancement in the field of nursing.

Coordinate the annual program evaluation, and assessment of institutional effectiveness and prepare reports.

Assess the instructional needs of students in the program and coordinate the development of a plan to address these needs.

Ensure ongoing compliance with the requirements of the Florida Board of Nursing, Florida Department of Education, and accrediting agency.

Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, laboratory, and class preparation; maintaining competence in the subjects taught, preparing teaching materials, conferring with students on course materials, reviewing, grading ad evaluating examinations, papers, and peer reviews.

Requirements

• Graduate Degree with a major in Nursing (e.g. MSN, MA in Nursing) or
• A Doctoral Degree with a major in Nursing (e.g. DNP, DNS, PhD in Nursing; or
• A Master's in a non-nursing discipline (e.g. MBA) with a doctoral degree with a major in Nursing (e.g. DNP, DNS, PhD in Nursing) or
• A Master's in a non-nursing discipline (e.g. MBA) and a doctoral degree in a non-nursing discipline (EdD Educational Administration) with a post-master certificate in Nursing
