Job summary

CLA is seeking a Deal Services Intern to support diligence engagements in Chicago and Minneapolis. The anticipated start date is June 2027, with an end date in August 2027.

This internship offers exposure to quality of earnings work for private equity and strategic buyers, including analysis of financial results and pro forma information. Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with CFA/CPA exam expectations and willingness to travel to client sites.

Qualifications

• Working towards a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field - Degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
• Achieving credit requirements to be eligible to sit for the CFA, CPA exam per state requirements.
• General knowledge of accounting principles and reporting of financial data.
• Willingness to learn new technologies.
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office products.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

• Participates in quality of earnings due diligence engagements related to acquisitions by private equity investor groups and strategic corporate buyers.
• Analyzes financial/operational results of targets through reviewing accounting records and conducting interviews with management.
• Prepares/evaluates pro forma financial information.
• Evaluates effects of seasonality and cyclicality on cash flow requirements.
• Performs industry and company research. Correlates due diligence findings with client valuations.

The compensation range for this position in Illinois is: $27.00 - $35.00

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $27.00 -$31.00
