Job summary

Nassau BOCES is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to serve students across Nassau County districts. Responsibilities include conducting hearings screenings, delivering targeted services, and consulting with staff to create an accessible learning environment.

The role requires NYS certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing, experience with hearing-impaired students, strong communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• New York State Certification: Deaf and Hard of Hearing is required.
• Experience with students who have hearing impairment or deafness is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills are essential.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
• Experience with Hearing Assistive Technology (HAT) and cochlear implants is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hearing services screenings and re-evaluations for assigned students.
• Deliver individual hearing services per IEP or 504 mandates.
• Provide consultation to teachers and staff to ensure an inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records, session notes, and related documentation.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and districts.
• Maintain communication with supervisors and provide required documentation.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development workshops.
• Monitor use of assistive technologies such as hearing aids, HAT, and cochlear implants.
