Job summary

St. Mary’s County Public Schools is seeking a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Leonardtown, MD.

The role involves direct educational services and consultative support for deaf/hard of hearing students and staff across multiple locations, including home and community settings. The position requires a bachelor’s degree and proficiency in multiple communication modalities, with preferred MSDE certification in deaf education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Proficiency and experience using multiple communication modalities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct educational and consultative services to deaf/hard of hearing students and staff.
• Develop and implement IEPs for deaf/hard of hearing students.
• Collaborate with general education staff to provide necessary supports for access to the curriculum.
• Provide instruction in sign language to students and staff.
• Work with audiologist to train staff on hearing equipment and maintain equipment.
• Monitor student progress through regular data collection and reporting.
• Communicate with teachers and parents regarding communication skills development and achievement.
