Job summary

State of South Carolina in Spartanburg is seeking a classroom support aide to assist the teacher with implementing Individual Education Plans and supporting students with language, behavior, and social skills.

You will handle daily classroom tasks, prepare materials, monitor behavior, document progress, communicate with families, supervise during lunch and field trips, and help with health-center visits as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience in general administration, education or child care working with children in an educational setting and/or behavior management program.

Responsibilities

• Assists the classroom teacher with implementing the Individual Education Plan for each student.
• Assists with classroom management: preparing materials, managing student behavior per Code of Conduct or behavior plans, and assisting with self-care needs.
• Provides supervision of students according to school policies and student competency.
• Assists with record keeping, data collection, and daily communications such as progress reports.
• Communicates effectively with students to develop language, conceptual and behavioral skills using methods tailored to each student.
• Assists with monitoring daily schedules, supervision of students during lunch, field trips, and health-center visits.
